Global investment manager Barings has announced it will acquire 100% of Gryphon Capital Partners, the parent company of wholly-owned Gryphon Capital Investments Pty Ltd, which serves as the investment manager of the Gryphon Capital Income Trust (ASX:GCI).
Founded in 2014, Gryphon Capital Investments is an Australian, independently-owned, investment manager focused on the structured finance, fixed income market in Australia. Gryphon manages individual segregated accounts on behalf of institutional investors, as well as the ASX listed Trust.
Gryphon has AUD$2.6bn in funds under management which will combine with Barings Global Structured Finance’s US$8.2 billion in assets under management.
GCI invests primarily in residential mortgage-backed securities a fixed-income asset class where mortgages are pooled to generate an income stream via interest payments made by borrowers.
